5.2007 – Tepic

May 2007 – Tepic

God is working in Mexico! Gracias, Señor!

A team of 10 intercessors just returned from the cities of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco and Tepic, the capital city of Nayarit.
This team, which consisted of 5 pastors and 5 other seasoned missionary intercessors was dynamic from the very first day, and never once lost their focus or their energy.
This was my third time to take a team to Puerto Vallarta, and it was such a joy to see such progress in the area of city prayer efforts, and also in the unity and fellowship among the pastors of the Alliance there.  What wonderful and dedicated pastors worked with us— pastors who love their city and who truly have kingdom vision and a passion to pray.
Some of us had an opportunity to climb the highest mountaintop to pray over the city.  When Pastor Juan Barrera extended the invitation to go there with him I didn’t realize we wouldn’t be driving!  Oops! It was in fact something like several hundred steep stone steps.  But— it was too late to back down— I made it (barely) with a little help from my friends; Revs. Jim Mashburn and Rob McFarland.
The theme of the trip was Acts 28:1-6.  Every opportunity we had, we shared how Paul “simply” shook off the snake that attacked him.” Believe me, this will preach!
The team divided up into groups of 2 or 3 most of the week, thus enabling us to cover in intense prayer each of the 5 “pressure points” in the city, the government centers, the educational centers, the marketplace, the media centers and spiritual centers.  A highpoint “divine appointment” was a special meeting with the First Lady of the City, who by the way, received us most graciously and who seemed very open and appreciative of the prayer for her and the government leadership of the city.

THE OFFICIAL LAUNCHING OF OPERATION CAPITAL CITY
Early one morning we set out in a 15 passenger van for a neighboring city, Tepic, in the state of Nayarit, which is about a 3 hour drive.  Harvest Preparation International Ministries had given us the name of a contact person there, and he had gathered several pastors to work with us and lead us through the city to pray for the 5 pressure points.  This was the official launching of OCC— Operation Capital City in Mexico— Tepic being the first capital city visited.  The enthusiasm of the team with the combined group of pastors from both cities was awesome.  We actually had a spontaneous invitation to come to a TV station in Tepic to explain what the team was doing in the city.  We had a nine or ten minute interview.  (So much for sneaking in and out of a city to pray!)  What an exciting launching for OCC!
As a result of this trip some of the pastors in Puerto Vallarta would like to coordinate a future venture, where they, along with pastors in Tepic will take us to Guadalajara and to Colima for an intercessory prayer “blitz”.  What a great witness it us to see pastors working together from different cites and even different countries.  Soon the Mexican pastors that are in close relationship with us will be going out. Harvest Preparation International Ministry has scheduled up coming Pastors Conferences in both cities, and this was a prayer focus too.
At this time, I am working on a trip to Saltillo, capital city of Coahuila, to share the vision of OCC with Pastor Tony Garcia, who is the Project Director in Mexico, and then to Tapachula, Chiapas where I hope to share my heart with Pastor Alejandro Orella and my “family” there.
