August 2007 – Saltillo
Mexico Pastors Are “Catching the Vision!”
A small but mighty team of OCC intercessors returned home on August 14th, 2007 from yet another fruitful trip into Mexico.
We first traveled to Saltillo, the capital city of the state of Coahulia, where we prayed at the 5 “pressure points” of the city. Many pastors who are members of the local Alliance accompanied us as we were invited inside the State Government building and the office (Palace) of the Presidente of the City to pray. One night we also had about 40 pastors and intercessors at an exciting prayer meeting at the “mirador”, the mountain lookout over the city. A prophetic word came from that mountaintop meeting, saying that we have about 3 years to pray and prepare before a major islamic uprising occurs against Christians.
Also a group of us climbed (not drove) up a large mountain in Saltillo to pray. Three of us ladies almost made it to the top, while the men “took the hill” and claimed the city for Christ!
Pastor Tony Garcia, pastor of La Roca (The Rock) Church served us well in Saltillo. Pastor Tony is the Project Director of OCC-Mexico and is totally on fire for this project. He invited the Alliance Pastors to a meeting (service) at La Roca one morning. After breakfast was served I was given the opportunity to share my heart and the OCC strategy. What a tremendous response! At the conclusion of that meeting I laid hands on 7 pastors who made a firm commitment to be a team who would travel to the 10 capital cities surrounding Coahulia. They expect to begin in January. I will continue to instruct and guide Pastor Tony and this wonderful group of young pastors.
It was also a great blessing to be served by Carl and Marina Lupnitz, my dear friends at Eternal Love Ministries. Marina, whom I consider a spiritual daughter, makes the “world’s best” tamales with white sauce!
The journey continued as we traveled south through Mexico City to Tapachula in the state of Chiapas. Although Tapachula is not a capital city, there are key people there with whom I have a “family” relationship, and I knew they would be eager to help me cast this vision, and also who would want to take an active role in the prayer challenge.
As a result of a meeting with Pastor Alejandro Orella Granados and his leaders of “Ministeries Jesús Es Señor” this core group committed to cover the 5 surrounding states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán. Intercession is nothing new in Tapachula. A few years ago these same people launched a citywide prayer campaign, “Tapachula for Christ,” putting posters and billboards up all over the city calling people to pray. Four years ago the Penn Ohio Pastors took a trip to Tapachula to be a part of this endeavor.
Thanks to Brother Fernando and Sister Chata and the whole family there for their gracious hospitality. Also I wish to thank board member, Sister Rocio Cancino for interpreting and also for translating all of my materials, letters, and information into impeccable Spanish!
Thanks to my faithful friend and interpreter Rev. Hope Cummins for her many years of help and support to me. She is an awesome OCC board member.
And last but not least thanks to team member Rev. Bill Beck who is “hooked” on the beautiful spirit of the Mexican people. Remember—
Together we can do it!!!
Until All Know,
Pastor Carol Missik
